Basic Statement of Faith

Ministers of the Word of God in Amazing Grace Mission (AGM) hold the following basic beliefs.

Ministers of the Word of God in Amazing Grace Mission (AGM) hold the following basic beliefs.

1. The Verbal Plenary Inspiration of the Scriptures

The Scriptures, both the Old Testament and the New Testament, are verbally plenary inspired revealed Word of God to mankind, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Ti 3:15-17; 1 Thes 2:13; 2 Pt 1:21).

2. The True Eternal One and Tiune God

God is the true eternal one and triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Dt 6:4; Is 43:10-11; Mt 18:19; Lk 3:22; Jn 14:16-17; 2 Co 13:14).

3. The Deity of the LORD Jesus Christ

The LORD Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God (Mt 1:23,25; Lk 1:31,35), sinless (Heb 4:15; 7:26; 1 Pt 2:22; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Jn 3:5), performs miracles (Mt 4:23-24; Lk 7:11-18; Ac 2:22; 10:38), died on the Cross in place of sinners (Rom 5:8; 1 Cor 15:3-4; 2 Cor 5:21), resurrected bodily from the dead (Jn 11:25-26; Mt 28:6; Mk 16:6; 28:5-6; Lk 24:6-7,39; 1 Cor 15:4; 1 Thes 4:14), ascended into heaven being (Ac 1:9-11; Mk 16:19; Lk 24:51) and being exalted sitting on the right hand of the Father (Ac. 2:33; Phil 2:9-11; Heb 1:3).

4. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one of the Persons of God in one Godhead because He possesses His own divine personalities as “intellect” (Neh 9:20; Lk 12:12; Jn 14:26; 15:26; Rom 8:27; 1 Cor 2:10b,11,13), “will” (Ac 16:6-11; 1 Cor 11:11), “emotion” (Is 63:10; Mt 12:31-32; Ac 5:3-4,9; 7:51; 9:31; Eph 4:29-3; 1 Thes 5:19; Heb 10:29), names as “the Spirit of God” (Gn 1:2; Ex 31:3; 35:31; Nm 24:2; 1 Sm 10:10; 19:20; 2 Chr 15:1; 24:20; Jb 33:4; Mt 3:16; Rom 8:9,14; 1 Cor 2:11), “the Spirit of Jesus” (Ac 16:7), “the Spirit of Christ” (Rom 8:9; 1 Pet 1:11), “the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phil 1:19), “the Spirit of the LORD” (Is 11:2; Ac. 5:9), “Another Comforter” (Jn 14:16), “the Eternal Spirit” (Heb 9:14), “the Holy Spirit” (Mt. 1:20; 28:19; Mk. 13:11; Lk. 3:22; 11:13; Jn. 1:33; 14:26; Ac. 1:8; 2:4,38; 4:31; 19:6; 5:32; Rom. 5:5; 15:13; 1 Cor. 6:19; 13:2; Eph. 4:30; Jud. 1:20; 2 Pet. 1:21), “the Spirit of Truth” (1 Jn 5:6), “the Spirit of Counsel/Wisdom” (Is 11:2), “the Spirit of Life” (Rom 8:2), “the Spirit of Love” (2 Tim 1:7), “the Spirit of Revelation” (Eph 1:17), and the Personal Pronouns “I”, “Me” (Ac. 13:2), “He”, “Him” (Jn. 14:17,26; 16:7-11,13-15), “Himself” (Rom 8:16,26), “who,” and “whom”  (Jn 7:39; 14:26; 15:26; Ac 5:32; Rom 5:5; 1 Cor 2:126:19, Eph 1:13-14; 4:30; Ti 3:5-6) are used for the Holy Spirit. As God, He is omnipotent (Zec 4:6; Rv 19:6), omnipresent (Ps 139:7-10) and omniscient (1 Cor 2:10,11; cf. Is 40:13-14; Rom 8:26-27).

5. The Fall of Mankind

God created mankind good and upright (Gn 1:26-27; 2:7; 5:1-2; Isa 45:12; Mt 19:4; Ecc 7:29) but they by voluntary transgression fell into sin and become physically and spiritually death, separation from God (Gn 2:16-17; 3:7; Rom 5:12-19; Eph2:1-3; Col 2:13). So, all fallen mankind are sinners (2 Chr 6:36; Jb 15:14-16; Ps 51:5; 58:3; 130:3; 143:2; Prv 20:9; Ecc 7:20,29; Isa 53:6; 64:6; Rom 3:9-12,2; Jas 3:2,8; 1Jn 1:8,10) possessing darken minds and corrupt hearts (Gn 6: 5; 8:21; Ecc 9:3; Jer 17:9; Mk 7:21-23; Jn 3:19; Rom 8:7-8; 1 Cor 2:14; Eph 4:17-19; 5:8; Ti 1:15), in bondage to sin and Satan ( Jn 8:34,44; Rom 6:20; Eph 2:1-2; 2 Tim 2:25-26; Ti 3:3; 1 Jn 3:10; 5:19), and have inability to change (Jb 14:4; Jer 13:23; Mt 7:16-18; 12:33; Jn 6:65; Rom 11:35-36; 1 Cor 2:14; 4:7; 2 Cor 3:5).

6. The Salvation of Mankind

All mankind need new birth for salvation (Jn. 3:5-7). Mankind’s only hope for redemption (salvation) is through the works of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary and the salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ (Mt 1:21; Lk 9:10; 9:6-9; 24:47; Jn 3:3; 14:6; Ac 4:12; 16:30-31; Rom 3:24-25; 5:8-10; 10:9-10; Gal 1:3-4; 3:13;  Eph 2:8,15-16; Col 1:13-14,21-22; 2 Cor 5:19-19; 1 Thes. 5:9; 1 Tim 1:15; Ti 2:,11,14; 3:5-5;  Heb 9:12; 1 Pt 3:18) by regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit ( Jn 3:5-7; Ti 3:5-6) and the inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:16; 1 Jn 3:24b) and the outward evidence for salvation to mankind is living a life of righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:24; Ti 2:12).

7. The Ordinances of the Church

There are two ordinances of the Church which are the ordinance of water baptism by immersion to be received by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as LORD and Saviour as a symbol of declaration to the world of one’s death and resurrection with Christ to walk a new life (Mt 28:19; Mk 16:16; Ac 2:38; 10:47-48; 22:16; Rom 6:3-5; Gal 3:26-28; 1 Pet 3:20-21) and the ordinance of Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion (1 Cor 10:16-17; cf. Mt 26:26-28; 1 Cor 11:23-29) consisting of the elements of bread and wine (the grape juice) as the of expression of Christ’s believers’ sharing the divine nature of the LORD Jesus Christ (2 Pet 1:4), in remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death and of His second coming (1 Cor. 11:23-26).

8. Sanctification

Sanctification is an act of God in His grace separating His people for holiness from Satan and sin, and of making them by the Holy Spirit into the likeness of Jesus Christ for dedicating unto Him (1 Thes 5:23; 1 Pet. 1:2) in His will and pleasure (Eph 1:3-5). The Scripture teaches that “without holiness no one will see the LORD” (Heb 12:14, NIV). Sanctification is definitive/positional (Ac 20:32, 26:18; Eph 1:1b,4; 5:26; Phil 1:1b; 10:10; 1 Cor 1:2; 6:11; Heb 3:1;), progressive (2 Cor 3:18; Phil 2:12-13; 3:12; Col 3:10) and ultimate/final (Eph 5:25-27; cf. Rom 8:28-30; 1 Jn 3:2-3).

9. The Church, Mission and Ministries

The Church is the body of Christ, of which He is the Head and in which the fullness of Christ is seen all in all (Eph 1:22-23; 5:25,32; Col 1:24). They are the individual living believers of Christ called out assembly or people of God for fellowship of and with Him (1 Cor 1:9) for following His steps (1 Pet 2:21) to be a one body for peace (Col 3:15) to live a life worthy of the His calling (Eph 4:1) into holiness (1 Thes 4:7) by holding the eternal life (1 Tim 6:12) and partaking of the heavenly calling (Heb 3:1). The Church is an organic, that is, living being that has locomotion and growths and in whom God lives by the Holy Spirit (Eph 2:22).

The Church is called to fulfil God’s will to be an agency of God for world mission and ministries of evangelization in the power of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders (Mk 16:15-20; Mt 28:19-20; Ac 1:8; 4:29-31; Heb 2:3-4), and be a corporate one body (1 Cor 12:13) for the ministries of unity, maturity, and diversity in Christ (Eph 4:1-16; 1 Cor 12:12-28) in demonstration of God’s love and compassion for all peoples in the world (Ps 112:9; Gal 2:10; 6:10; Jas 1:27).

10. The Future Hopes of the Believers of Christ

The believers of the LORD Jesus Christ have the future blessed hopes in His second coming at the time of rapture for resurrection of the dead in Christ and transfiguration of the living in Him (Rom 8:23-25; Ti 2:13; 1 Thes 4:13-17; 1 Cor 15:51-54), after the rapture, for reigning with Him on earth for a one thousand year (Zec 14:5 ; Mt 24:27,30-31; Rv. 1:7-8; 19:11-16; 20:1-6), the LORD’s judging of the wicked, the non-believers of Christ (Mt 25:46; Mk 9:43-48; Rv 20:1-15; 21:8) and entering into the new heavens and the new earth in dwelling in righteousness (2 Pet 3:13; Rv 21, 22).
